Hi all,
Every once in a while (such as right now) I get pulled away from my Air Dynamics duties, so, in case anybody's interested in what happens on the other side of your tv remote control, I put up a few pictures from the January 2001 Superbowl showing just a little tiny bit of what goes on.

A sculpture in front of the Atlanta Hyatt. The NFL normally picks southern cities for the Superbowl in order to ensure good weather, but the icicles hanging from the sculpture show that things don't always go according to plan (:-)

Some of the "toys" on top of the Coca-Cola building. On the left is the very chilly outdoor cameraman for the outdoor stadium shot manning a Philips High Definition LDK-9000 camera. The small round things in the middle are microwave receiver dishes, and the phone booth-like thing on the right is the enclosure for a Lucent optical transmission link for full-bandwith High Definition video which was down-converted for use on both the HD and the SD (standard definition) production.

Miles and miles of miles and miles of cables tying everything together. In the background on the right you can see the HD production truck which was using 9 cameras (along with up-converted feeds of the SD cameras when required for replays, talent, etc
