How To Make the Center Joint

This page shows a mock-up of the carbon frame's center joint using a few left-over pieces.

The thicker piece is .125" (1/8") diameter tube with a hole drilled through it.
Pass a short length of .070" thick carbon rod through the hole.
One of the crosswise tubes is slipped over each end of the smaller rod.
Butt up these tubes agains the first one.
Once these are cut, trial fitted, and aligned, tack them in place with thin CA. The CA will flow into the joint and produce a strong bond. However, carbon tubes can split and we need to make sure that this will not happen. Go back to the main page to see how I put "splints" around the joint.
