ON THE OTHER HAND... this knife is really cool. Really, REALLY, cool.
Oh, so you've read this far and are probably thinking that none of these features are totally earth-shattering. Quite true. Both a VW and a Mercedes have 4 wheels, a motor, a few doors, and get you from place to place except that the Merc costs many thousands of $$$ more. Here you have a similar choice, a regular knife that will do the job for $2, or a slick, superior design for a total cost of a measly $11, which is a pretty low price to pay to get spoiled and pampered like you deserve (:-)
- It's yellow and who doesn't like yellow ? (:-)
- More importantly the chuck mechanism is cast steel with heavy chrome plating and spring-loaded so the bits will always turn smoothly. (No more fiddling to get blades stay put or struggling with ones that refuse to come out!!)
- Grip from cushy, long-lasting rubber so the knife is easier and more comfortable to work with.
- A tab at the end of the handle keeps it from rolling off your workbench and stabbing you in the toe.
- The rubber and plastic handle won't leave schmutz on your hands like aluminum handles do.
- Extra-long handle lets you reach better into narrow spaces (especially when using the nifty saw blades such as fuselages, hulls, etc.
So you see, even though you'd be crazy to spend $11 for a knife you really don't need, you'd also be crazy NOT to spend $11 for this one... Whichever way you turn you're doing the wrong thing, so you might as well order one and get some enjoyment out of this horrible dilema (:-)
To top it all off, if you buy it and for some reason don't agree that it's "really, really cool" and "the best darn knife you've everowned" just return it for a full, and cheerful refund.
(Oh, yeah, the knife also comes with 2 No.11-type blades, a chisel-tip blade, a nice curved blade and a cute yellow box to keep them in)

Almost as cool as the knife (they're not yellow so they don't quite make it) (:-) are these two great new small saw blades from Olfa. They fit both the "Crazy-Knife" as well as all X-acto No.1 handles. What makes these blades special is that they have very fine pitch teeth so they'll make a nice cut in soft materials instead of ripping through like other blades will. Also they're long for good reach into tight spaces and they're also nice and stiff so they won't flex warp or buckle on you.
In comparison "Brand X" only has a single fine-tooth blade
(No. 213 - the one with the triangular tip) but it's very thin
so it flexes and bends making accurate cuts tricky, and it's
very short giving only about half the reach of the Olfa blade.
"Brand X" also offers No. 215 and No. 227 which you may already
own. If you dig them out and compare them with the Olfa
blades you'll notice that the regular blade (No. 227) is nice
and sturdy and usefully long but it only has 15 teeth per inch
(!!), twice as coarse as the Olfa blades and probably better
suited to cutting drywall than for fine modeling (:-) The No. 215
keyhole blade has a few more teeth but it's still pretty coarse
and has a needlessly pointy and fragile shape.
