(Clearly Superior) Heat-Shrink Tubing

Different sizes of CS tubing shown before and after shrinking.
The tubing is clear and half the thickness / weight of regular tubing. It has high heat resistance, 45% shrinkage rate and won't crack like the other stuff often does.

5/8" Tubing fits:

For micro ESC's like Pixies, HF9s and others and for AAA-diameter cells such as 50 mAh NiCd and 110 NiMHs.

Notice how little slack there is around the individual cell in the picture on the right. The 5/8" size is good for AAA-size individual cells, but depending on how you run the wires and other factors, this size may not (probably will not) work with AAA-size single-stick packs.

1" Tubing fits:

50 mAh ladder packs and 2-stick 50 mAh or AAA packs.

Shrunk 1" tubing.

Note: 1" tubing can cover single-stick 50 mAh packs but is not small enough to curl over the edge of the positive pole to properly insulate individual cells. To cover individual small cells, use the 5/8" size shown above.

1.5" Tubing fits:

3 and 4-stick AAA packs and 50mAh packs
1.5" tubing also fits 2-stick AA packs, 110 mAh ladder packs and single sub-C cells.

2" tubing fits:

2" tubing with ladder and 2-stick 600AE / 500AR packs and 350 mAh ladder pack.
2" tubing with 3 and 4 AA configurations. (2-stick AA is 1.5")

2.5" Tubing fits:

No battery pictures here. The 2.5" is for use with helicopter rotor blades. Click HERE for more info on covering heli blades.

3" tubing fits:

Sub-C cells covered with 3" tubing. (Single cell is covered with 1.5")
Ladder configurations with AAA (left) and AA (right) cells

Sizing Tip: If you're not sure what size tubing you need, here's how to figure it out:
  • Wrap the object you're trying to cover with a strip of paper (make sure that the strip goes around the widest part of the object).
  • Trim the strip so the two ends touch each other
  • Fold the strip in half and measure the folded length.
  • The size CS you need is anywhere between the length you measured and 45% more than that. For instance, if your folded strip is 2.4" wide, you can use your choice of either 2.5", 3" or 4" wide tubing. If your strip measures .9" you can use either 1" or 1.5" (but not 2"). Etc, etc.
