Transfer tape is a similar to double-sided tape but it has a a major difference and several advantages: it's different because it doesn't have any tape. What you get is just the normal gummy layer rolled up with a layer of brown waxed paper that keeps it from sticking to itself. To use it you tear off the length you need, stick it down and then peel off the waxed paper layer. You end up with a very thin, very light, VERY sticky gummy strip that doesnt' require any drying time, that stays a little flexible so a joint won't be as likely to crack as it would with CA, that's foam-safe, and that will give perfect control over the bonded area as there's no messy liquid to drip and drift around.
